A Bit About Me

I was born and raised in the small Oregon town of Creswell. I was first exposed to art through the comic books at the local grocery store magazine rack. I taught myself to draw using whatever art books I could get my hands on. After studying art in high school I attended Lane Community College and Oregon State, where I study everything from drawing to bronze casting. From there I went into teaching and have been a classroom art teacher for over a decade.

Artwork

Storytelling is at the heart of everything I create. I’ve been writing and drawing, and creating my own characters and comic books since early childhood. But whether it’s a hundred page graphic novel or a one page pinup I always start with a story.

Teaching

As an art teacher with over ten years in the classroom, I’ve taught topics ranging from ceramics, drawing, cartooning, to drafting, and woodworking. My goal has not only been to teach students the fundamentals of art, but to help them develop their own inner storyteller.

The Elysian

The Elysian is the culmination of a lifetimes worth of work. The Elysian began as a traditional super hero comic book I created in my early teens. Over the years their history has grown into a Science Fiction epic. The characters have become real people with their own personalities and flaws. The story has become a rich and intricate tale blending mythology, science, intrigue, and action.

The Book

I am currently working on The Elysian graphic novel. Being the writer, artist, letterer, colorist, and a full-time teacher is a daunting task, but I am planning to have a completed version of the book available both in print and digitally in 2018.
